Week 6 Power Rankings

October 8th, 2024

By: Jack Weisberg

Week 6 Power Rankings

Rankings are based on each team's current resume through 4 weeks.

32nd

Patriots (-)

This offense has lost any spark of hope fans may have still been reminiscing on from the first couple games of the season. If it wasn’t already, it's time to start thinking about the 2025 NFL Draft for Patriot fans.

31st

Panthers (-3)

Speaking of teams that need to start looking toward the future… but with Andy Dalton at the helm the complete opposite is happening.Sitting Bryce Young just a few games after his rookie campaign just shows the incompetence in this front office. Why draft him with the #1 overall pick the bench just a little over one calendar year after?

30th

Dolphins (-)

Tyler Huntley was able to move this offense more so than Skylar Thompson was, but it is absolutely not enough to move the needle for this Miami Dolphins team.

29th

Browns (-)

Coach Kevin Stefanski’s time with the Browns is almost at an end as he continues to stick with Deshawn Watson as being the surefire answer at QB and that decision will be the death of his coaching career.

28th

Jaguars (+3)

The Jags won a game! Against the Colts with Joe Flacco, but still it counts. We knew this Jaguars team was much more capable than their record suggested. Now it's a matter of stacking wins together to be competitive in a wild AFC wild card race.

27th

Raiders (-5)

In what was the most disappointing and embarrassing loss in my 21 years of Raider fandom, it's time to take a look in the mirror and realize that it's been broken for so long. Despite probably Owner Mark Davis understanding this for the past 20 years, it has gone under the rug for too long and I think if Antonio Pierce doesn’t win this Sunday, he will have lost all respect in this locker room.

26th

Rams (-1)

This Rams team is still sneaky so don’t you dare count them out, but they need to get healthy to make any kind of noise in a stacked but struggling division.

25th

Titans (+2)

This team can still figure it out behind a reliable defense, but playoffs was never a realistic option.

24th

Colts (-5)

As the team waits for AR to make his return, Joe Flacco has been straight out balling for the Colts. Even making their game close in the final quarter after finding Alec Pierce on two deep shots to bring the game within a field goal. Don’t panic Colts fans, they have time to figure it out.

23rd

Giants (+3)

This Giants team surprisingly won against a tough Seahawks team this past weekend making it a no brainer to move them up on this list. Rookie RB Tyrone Tracy Jr. made his impact by imposing his will on Seahawks defenders en route to a 29-20 victory.

22nd

Jets (-6)

One of our biggest fallers of the week are the Jets despite narrowly losing to the Vikings, it was a lot worse than the story of the final score suggested. After firing now former HC Robert Salah where will the new direction of this team turn with a possibility of Davante Adams on the way.

21st

Saints (-6)

Another one of our biggest fallers of the week even after a loss to the former super bowl champs the Saints dynamic and explosive offense we saw in weeks 1 and 2 is nowhere to be found. Plus Derek Carr will be out for the next few weeks putting Taysom Hill in prime position to get this team back on track.

20th

Bengals (+1)

In what felt like a must win game for this Bengals team where they nearly came out with a victory against the Ravens it just didn’t work out to plan. Falling to 1-4 going into week 6 the Bengals need a full 180 to turn these things around and we know they are capable, but it needs to start this weekend.

19th

Steelers (-6)

The Steelers lost a winnable game to the Cowboys that felt like they could’ve easily been more competitive in this one than they ultimately were. Despite this loss don’t count the Steelers out any given Sunday and even for the possibility to sneak into the playoffs.

18th

Chargers (+2)

Coming off of a bye week and a week where a lot of teams around them had poor performances the Chargers remain in that 18th to 20th range.

17th

Broncos (+1)

With an impressive and convincing blowout win against a depleted Raiders team, where we saw Patrick Surtain come away with 2 picks, one of them he took to the house; it's clear that this team's ceiling is as far as this defense can take it.

16th

Cardinals (+7)

While I did believe that the Cardinals rank at 23 was low, I wasn’t expecting them to come out and win in a close game against the 49ers in San Francisco. Cardinals are sneaky so quit counting them out when the lights are the brightest.

15th

Tampa Bay Bucs (-8)

In what has to be the biggest fall of the week, this Tampa Bay Bucs team just can’t catch a break following quite a promising start to the season. With a very confusing resume with wins over the Lions, Eagles, and Commanders but losses to the Falcons, Broncos they have no choice, but to be at the middle of the pack.

14th

Cowboys (+3)

The Cowboys had an ok win against the Steelers that has them moving up 3 spots according to our criteria. While I don’t necessarily believe this team will stay in this territory with their next six games against all teams ahead of them in this power ranking, they'll have to pull off some upsets to move up from this point in the weekly power rankings.

13th

Seahawks (-4)

A huge upset loss to the Giants stops the Seahawks prowl into the top 8. However, a huge chance to make everyone forget about this loss next week against division rival the 49ers.

12th

Bears (+11)

One would think a blowout win against the Panthers wouldn’t move a team up much but when considering the movement of teams around the Bears and how the parts of this Bears team that looked concerning all seemed to come together in this game this ranking improvement is more than warranted.

11th

Falcons (+3)

Falcons come off of a clutch overtime win vs. The Bucs in a must win divisional matchup. Without some of the losses they suffered earlier in the season thus could easily be a top 8 team.

10th

Eagles (+1)

Coming off of a Bye week nothing really to say other than they must win against the Browns this weekend to remain in the Top 12.

9th

Commanders (-1)

The Commanders blow out the Browns as expected to move up one spot in the power rankings due to those teams around them. However, the real test comes against the Baltimore Ravens this upcoming week.

8th

49ers (+2)

Despite the Loss and the terrible start to the season, this team is starting to get healthy again and might be ready to blast off. You may ask why they rose in the power rankings despite a loss and it's really just based on what we know about this team, however if they lose to the Seahawks this weekend expect me to have them in the bottom 16 teams.

7th

Bills (-3)

Bills lost to the Texans in a close one, but I don’t see this disrupting their positive momentum heading into a big week for divisional positioning against the Jets.

6th

Packers (+6)

The Packers barely beat a sneaky good Rams team this weekend, but with Jordan Love back and playing the QB position to the expectation Green Bay has placed on him this team is in a great position headed into week 6.

5th

Ravens (+1)

The Ravens have slowly been showing us exactly why they had all the hype coming out of the offseason and their playmaking abilities were on full display this past weekend against the Bengals. Expect this team to stay around this Top 5 range for the foreseeable future.

4th

Texans (+1)

A huge win against one of the best teams in the league in the Bills and in watching it, it almost felt too easy. Despite losing Nico Collins in the middle of the second quarter this offense continued to score and ultimately got down the field to score the final field goal to win the game.

3rd

Lions (-)

The Lions might stay in this 3 spot the entire season. I don’t see why I would move them anytime soon and we know just what they are capable of. This upcoming week they matchup with the Cowboys in a must win game to keep this 3 spot, then the week following a huge matchup against the current 2 position in these rankings the…

2nd

Vikings (-1)

Coming off a win and being dropped down doesn’t seem fair, but it was a bit too close of a matchup facing a struggling Jets team to keep them at the one spot. And with that being said I hope we can all respect why the team below moved up to #1.

1st

Chiefs (+1)

Following a convincing victory vs the Saints I have the Chiefs taking over the top spot narrowly over the Vikings.
