Week 8 Picks, ATS, and Analysis
Vikings (-2.5) vs. Rams
Analysis: It’s tough to pick against the Vikings, but their heavy travel schedule this past week makes this game tricky. The Rams’ offense hasn't found its groove yet, and with Cooper Kupp returning, they’ll likely be more dangerous. However, the Vikings’ offense, especially through the air, will be the difference maker here. Even with the Thursday night travel concerns, the Vikings edge it out.
Prediction: Vikings win 27-20
Thoughts on the Line: While I have the Vikings winning, I’d avoid betting on this game due to their travel schedule.
Eagles (+3) vs. Bengals
Analysis: Both teams are still finding consistency, and this could easily turn into a shootout. The Bengals' lack of a running game might be an issue against the Eagles’ strong run defense, but the Bengals' explosive offense will find ways to keep them in it. Ultimately, the Bengals outscore the Eagles in what promises to be a thrilling game.
Prediction: Bengals win 34-31
Thoughts on the Line: Bengals cash at +3.
Ravens (-8.5) vs. Browns
Analysis: The Ravens are on fire, and with Jameis Winston stepping in for the Browns, turnovers could be a real problem. While Winston might add some explosiveness, the Ravens’ defense should capitalize on mistakes, and Lamar Jackson should have another strong day.
Prediction: Ravens win 33-14
Thoughts on the Line: Ravens to cover the -8.5.
Lions (-11) vs. Titans
Analysis: The Titans’ defense is solid, but their offense is sputtering after trading key players. Meanwhile, the Lions are in top form offensively and should have no problem putting up points. With the Lions’ defense being strong enough to handle the Titans' limited offense, this could turn into a one-sided affair.
Prediction: Lions win 30-13
Thoughts on the Line: Lions to cover the -11.
Dolphins (-3) vs. Cardinals
Analysis: With Tua back in the lineup, the Dolphins are a different team. However, the Cardinals are sneaky and have shown they can run the ball effectively. If the Cardinals keep it close, their run game will be key. But Tua and the Dolphins' high-powered offense will ultimately outscore them in a tight game.
Prediction: Dolphins win 27-24
Thoughts on the Line: Dolphins cover at -3.
Jets (-7) vs. Patriots
Analysis: While the Jets have been inconsistent, their defense should be enough to slow down the Patriots, who will look to control the clock with their ground game. It’ll be a close one, but the Jets' passing attack will make enough plays to get the win. Drake Maye has thrown at least two touchdowns in his first two starts at the Patriots starting QB look for that to continue.
Prediction: Jets win 20-17
Thoughts on the Line: Jets win but don’t cover the -7 spread.
Falcons (-2.5) vs. Buccaneers
Analysis: With Mike Evans and Chris Godwin sidelined, the Buccaneers’ offense will struggle. The Falcons have shown they can put up points, especially in the passing game, and should take advantage of a depleted Bucs’ defense.
Prediction: Falcons win 27-17
Thoughts on the Line: Falcons to cover at -2.5.
Packers (-4) vs. Jaguars
Analysis: The Packers' offense is in rhythm, and they should have no trouble against a Jaguars defense that has struggled in coverage. While the Jaguars have the ability to put up points, especially with Trevor Lawrence, they won’t be able to keep pace with Green Bay’s offense.
Prediction: Packers win 34-28
Thoughts on the Line: Packers to cover the -4.
Texans (-5) vs. Colts
Analysis: Both teams will lean on their run games, with Jonathan Taylor and the Texans’ Mixon having opportunities for big plays. With fewer explosive plays compared to their first meeting, this game will come down to who controls the clock better. Expect the Texans to win a close, grind-it-out game.
Prediction: Texans win 23-17
Thoughts on the Line: Texans cover the -5.
Chargers (-7) vs. Saints
Analysis: The Saints are banged up, and while they might get Chris Olave back, their offensive line issues will be a problem. The Chargers’ defense is solid, and if they can jump out to an early lead, the Saints will struggle to keep up.
Prediction: Chargers win 27-17
Thoughts on the Line: Chargers to cover the -7.
Bills (-3) vs. Seahawks
Analysis: Both teams struggle against the run, and this could turn into a high-scoring affair. Expect explosive plays from both offenses, with the Bills having the edge due to Josh Allen and their more dynamic passing game.
Prediction: Bills win 30-27
Thoughts on the Line: Bills to cover at -3.
Broncos (-9) vs. Panthers
Analysis: The Broncos' defense is stout and should keep the Panthers’ offense in check. Meanwhile, the Panthers have struggled to stop anyone, and the Broncos’ offense will take advantage, covering the large spread comfortably.
Prediction: Broncos win 32-16
Thoughts on the Line: Broncos to cover the -9.
Chiefs (-10) vs. Raiders
Analysis: The Chiefs’ defense has been carrying them while Mahomes and the offense have dealt with injuries. The Raiders' offense, meanwhile, is unlikely to put up enough points to keep pace. Expect a defensive struggle with the Chiefs doing just enough to win.
Prediction: Chiefs win 20-13
Thoughts on the Line: Chiefs to cover the -10.
49ers (-4.5) vs. Cowboys
Analysis: The 49ers thrive in prime-time games, and even though both teams are dealing with injuries, San Francisco’s physicality and run game will be too much for Dallas. The Cowboys' defense struggles against physical teams, making this a perfect matchup for the Niners.
Prediction: 49ers win 27-17
Thoughts on the Line: 49ers to cover the -4.5.
Steelers (-6.5) vs. Giants
Analysis: This will be a defensive battle, but the Steelers' offense has found some life recently. With the Giants’ offense struggling to score, Pittsburgh’s defense will dominate, and they’ll cover the spread with ease.
Prediction: Steelers win 27-13
Thoughts on the Line: Steelers cover the -6.5.
